Frequently Asked Questions on Online Banking Security Features

What is the new security feature?

Land of Lincoln Credit Union is focused on protecting your personal and account information at all times from internet fraud. It is no longer sufficient to use only a User ID and Password to access home banking. Therefore, we have implemented additional security features to better protect your online banking experience.

Part of our enhanced security requires you to establish security questions, which will be used to verify your identity. This enhancement will take a few minutes to complete, but is for your added protection.

Has my password changed?

No. The answers you provide to the "security questions" are separate from your regular LLCU Home Banking login password.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Due to new guidelines set forth by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), all Credit Unions are required to implement a new security feature which is called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Security is Land of Lincoln Credit Union's number one priority for our Members and that is why we are implementing these additional security measures. They will help to prevent phishing attacks and scams and assure you, the Member, that you are navigating to the official Lincoln On-line Home Banking site. These additional security questions will also be used to further authenticate your identity and are in addition to your online Home Banking pin.

Basically, Multi-Factor Authentication is the process of using multiple methods of identifying information to verify the identity of our existing members. It is no longer sufficient to utilize only a User ID and Password to access online banking. MFA will serve to better protect your privacy and account information.

Do I need to establish the MFA Security Questions?

Yes.  Recent Federal guidelines require that we obtain a minimum of two forms of identification before allowing members to view account information on-line. It is no longer sufficient to use only a User ID and password.

I cannot remember the answers to my security questions.  What should I do?

If you are unable to sign on to Lincoln On-line Home Banking because you have forgotten the answers to your security questions, please contact us at any of our local offices, or via the toll-free number 1-800-759-8390, and we will reset the questions so that you can provide new answers.

Who has access to the answers to my security questions?

Your security questions and answers will be encrypted and stored at the time they are submitted.  Your answers are not accessible by anyone, including Land of Lincoln employees.

How do I change my security questions/answers?

After signing in to Online Home Banking, you may change your security questions by going to the "Your Preferences" tab, selecting "Login Security Credentials", and choosing "Update Challenge Questions".

What if I choose not to complete the MFA security questions?

If you choose not to complete the security questions, you will not have access to Land of Lincoln Credit Union's On-line Home Banking services.
