HSA Contribution Limitations
You can use your Health Savings Account for a variety of medical expenses. Contributions can be made by you, your employee or both. However, total contributions are limited annually. The limits are described below:
2012 Employee-Only Coverage
Your health plan must have a deductible of at least $1,200. Annual contributions to an individual HSA cannot exceed $3,100.
2012 Family Coverage
Your health plan must have a deductible of at least $2,400. Annual contributions to a family HSA cannot exceed $6,250.
If your qualifying health plan was active during 2011, contributions for 2011 may be made through 4/17/12.
Contributions for the 2012 tax year may be made from 1/1/12 - 4/15/13.
2012 Direct Rollovers
Eligible individuals can now use a one-time direct rollover from an IRA to an HSA to make contributions that could otherwise be made for the year.
