Land of Lincoln Credit Union (LLCU) donated more than $130,000 in donations to over 85 different non-profit community organizations throughout the organizations 27 county service area. In addition, the staff at LLCU volunteered over 1,100 hours of service to over 140 different local non-profit organizations.

“This past year with experiencing the pandemic, the need for local non-profit service organizations was greater than ever,” states Robert Ares, LLCU President and CEO. “At the very start, LLCU staff and Directors recognized that need and reacted immediately, beginning with a $20,000 donation to numerous area food pantries in the spring. Additionally, our staff typically volunteers over 2,000 hours of volunteer service in our communities, but with the pandemic, in-person volunteer opportunities were minimal, so we realized could still help in a monetary way and we did just that, in a big way.”

LLCU has set a goal in 2021 of maintaining this level of community support and hope to reinstate their volunteer hour goal of 2,000 hours for the year. Several major projects were funded through the monetary donations of LLCU this year, including a new on-site playground donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Decatur ($46,500), new equipment and scholarship monies donated to the Junior Football League (JFL) of Decatur ($10,000).
