LLCU 2021 Community Impact Efforts Exceeded 2,000 Volunteer Hours and $140,000 in Donations

Decatur, Illinois, January 19th, 2022 – Land of Lincoln Credit Union (LLCU) announced Thursday that the organization exceeded several goals that were set for 2021 pertaining LLCU Community Impact commitment efforts. At the start of the year, LLCU once again committed to donate 2,000 volunteer hours in the local community by staff, as well as committing a minimum of $75,000 in monetary donations to local non-profits. At the close of 2021, LLCU staff donated over $140,000 in monetary donations and sponsorships to local non-profit agencies.
“Between the volunteer hours donated by staff and the monetary donations made, both by employees and by LLCU corporate, we were able to impact over 180 different local non-profit organizations,” stated Robert Ares, LLCU President & CEO. “That is incredible, and it is truly representative of what credit unions stand for – People Helping People. I could not be prouder of the LLCU family.”
LLCU Community Impact efforts are pledged each year by LLCU and the volunteer hour goal has been achieved each year, for the past five years, with the exception of 2020, (the start of the pandemic when volunteer opportunities came to an abrupt halt). In recent years, LLCU has been recognized for efforts with several awards including the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award in 2017, the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award (2019 & 2021), the Outstanding Business of the Year Award from Mt. Zion Chamber in 2019, and Philanthropist of the Year from Boys & Girls Club of Decatur (2021).
LLCU again committed to 2,000 volunteer hours and a minimum of $75,000 in monetary donations for 2022. Each market with an LLCU branch chose a specific designated Charity of the Year to support with payroll deductions and fundraising efforts.
