Important Fraud Protection Message for LLCU Members

8/10/2026 Cayla Hittmeier

Keeping our members' information safe and secure is our top priority. Recently, there has been an increase in fraudulent calls to members from scammers impersonating an LLCU representative or impersonating someone from the LLCU Fraud Department. The scammers proceed to ask for your account login information or other personal account info. PLEASE NOTE - If someone calls you and states that they are from LLCU - and they ask for your personal login or account information, HANG UP and call or visit your local LLCU branch. An LLCU representative will NEVER call and ask for your account information.

Due to the increase in fraudulent activity, you will notice additional messaging upon logging into LLCU Online Banking and when receiving two-factor authentication (2FA) code texts. The messaging serves as a reminder of our current security practices and will read as follows:

In Online Banking, you'll see the following message at login:

"Land of Lincoln Credit Union will never call and
ask for your full account number, user ID, passwords,
debit card PIN, or any security codes."

In the two-factor authentication (2FA) code text messages,
below is an example of the message you will see:

We also want to take this opportunity to remind you of the following steps you can take to protect your private information and money:

  • Use strong passwords. Passwords should be at least 16 characters in length with a mix of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Never use the same password across different sites or apps.
  • Use Multi-Factor Authentication. This is when you use two or more forms of identification to access your account. Typically it is your login credentials, plus a unique code texted to your mobile phone. Another safe form is to add a fingerprint or FaceID requirement to access account.
  • Regularly monitor your account. Login daily or weekly to your account to scan for unauthorized purchases or activity.
  • Report any suspected fraud. If you feel you might have fallen victim to a scam, or suspect that a phone call, text, or email that you received was fraudulent, please contact us immediately at 1-844-222-7788.

Please stay safe and remain vigilant against scammers. Stay up to date on the latest here at llcu.org.
