(Video Teller Machines)

What is an VTM (Video Teller Machine)?

An VTM is a modern banking terminal that combines the convenience and service of an ATM with expanded capabilities of completing more complex teller transactions with a live teller via video chat. It's like going to a Teller Window in the lobby!

The following transactions can be completed using an VTM:

  • Make cash and/or check deposits
  • Withdrawal cash
  • Check your account balance (balance inquiry)
  • Exchange larger bills for smaller bills
  • Complete transfers
  • Cash checks
  • Make a loan or credit card payment

What types of transactions CANNOT be done using an VTM?

The following transactions CANNOT be done using an VTM:

  • Request a statement copy
  • Have a debit card printed
  • Make HSA contributions and distributions

How do you use an VTM?

It's so easy! You simply drive up to an available VTM and touch the screen to activate your session. You can use the machine as either an VTM (video with a live video teller) or as an ATM for cash withdrawal or to check your balance. To use the machine as an ATM, simply swipe your debit card and follow the prompts on the screen.

Are LLCU VTMs available 24/7?

LLCU VTMs are available 24/7, however, the ability to connect to a live video teller and completing more complex transactions is limited to regular business hours as follows:

  • Friday:  7:30a.m. - 6:00p.m.

For any time outside of these regular hours, the machine will transition to ATM mode and offer typical ATM transactions such as cash withdrawal and balance inquiry.

Is there a fee to use an VTM?

No, there is no fee to use an VTM. It is the same as going to a lobby teller window for your transaction.

Is my conversation with an live video teller private?

Yes, your conversation with the video teller is as private as it would be if you were standing at a teller window in one of our lobbies. However, if you are still concerned about anyone near you hearing your conversation, the VTM does have the capability for you to privately chat with the video teller using the touchscreen chat keyboard.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Every VTM exchange with a live video teller is recorded for security purposes.

Who will work as VTM Video Tellers and where are they actually located?

The VTM Video Tellers for LLCU are current staff members who are expertly trained to operate the VTMs and provide you with fast, friendly service. Our Video Tellers are currently located at one of our Decatur branches. Eventually, some of our video tellers will work from various other LLCU branches within central Illinois.

What will happen to the current tellers working at drive-ups where you are installing VTMs?

Those valued staff members will remain at their current branch but will simply transition to the serving members in the lobby at a teller window.

Which LLCU branches currently have VTMs?

Eventually, all LLCU branches will have at least one VTM. For now, we are gradually rolling them out to each branch location. As of the fall of 2025, LLCU has VTMs at the following branch locations:

  • Prosperity Place Branch in Decatur
  • Pana Branch (S. Locust St.)
  • Effingham North Branch (Thelma Keller Ave.)

Can I still use an VTM as a basic ATM without the assistance of a live video teller?

Yes, if you would prefer to complete a simpler ATM transaction without the assistance of a live teller, simply insert your card into the VTM and follow the same steps you would with an ATM. Note that during an ATM transaction on an VTM machine, you will only be able to do simple transactions such as a cash withdrawal or balance inquiry. But, if at any time during your ATM transaction you would like further assistance (during regular business hours), you will have the option to connect to a live video teller at any time.

Can shared branching members or non-members use an VTM?

Shared Branching transactions cannot be completed on an VTM. Those must be done in the lobby at a teller window during normal business hours.

Non-members are able to use the VTM machine in ATM mode for cash withdrawal at any time. Any non-member who has already had a "non-member entity" created will also be able to use the ITM for more complex transactions.

Why is LLCU adding VTMs?

VTMs improve both the speed and quality of our service provided to members. They ensure that members in our drive-up lanes receive efficient, personal assistance every time. Additionally, LLCU strives to provide our members with enhanced convenience and the best technology available. Adding VTMs allows us to better serve our members.

Eventually, we will be able to provide even greater convenience to our members by placing stand-alone ITMs at more remote locations or towns that do not currently have an LLCU branch, meeting our members where they need us with personalized service and friendly faces of live video tellers.
