Decatur, Illinois, October 31, 2025– Land of Lincoln Credit Union (LLCU) made a total donation of $52,500 to ten different central Illinois area food pantries and service organizations on Friday. The food pantries that received funds included Northeast Community Fund in Decatur, Empowerment Opportunity Center of Decatur, Holy Family Food Pantry in Springfield, 6:35 Pantry in Vandalia, Catholic Charities of Effingham, Mattoon Community Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes Pantry in Pana, Nokomis Food Pantry, Centralia Community Benevolent Association, St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry of Bloomington, and Western Illinois Regional Council Food Pantry in Macomb.

“With the uncertainty surrounding SNAP program funding due to the government shutdown, the most vulnerable in our communities that rely on that funding to obtain basic necessities, will most likely do without,” states Robert Ares, LLCU President & CEO. “As an organization from our Board to our staff, we cannot simply standby and watch our friends and neighbors do without those necessities. So, we chose to make this contribution to local food banks with established infrastructure to help our neighbors. It is our hope that other businesses in the community will step up and do the same.”

LLCU has also developed internal offerings and assistance for their own staff in need during this time. Additionally, assistance efforts have been implemented for LLCU members who may be experiencing difficulties due to the government shutdown in any way, which include loan payment deferment.

LLCU also would like to encourage anyone in our communities who are struggling through this time to reach out to our staff for assistance and guidance. LLCU provides free financial counseling to all community members throughout LLCU’s entire 28-county service area, LLCU membership is not required to receive financial counseling and guidance.
