Frequently Asked Questions

What is an acquisition and what is actually happening?

An acquisition is when one organization takes ownership of another organization. The boards of Williamsville State Bank & Trust (“Williamsville” or “WSBT”) and Land of Lincoln Credit Union ("Land of Lincoln" or “LLCU”), an Illinois chartered credit union, have signed a definitive agreement for LLCU to purchase the assets and assume the liabilities of Williamsville, and have received regulatory approval to complete the purchase and assumption transaction. The closing date for the acquisition is scheduled for August 31st, 2026. Subsequently, on September 1st, 2026, all WSBT customers will automatically become members of LLCU.

Why is Williamsville State Bank choosing to sell?

The current competitive marketplace and increasing demands in the rapidly evolving financial services industry led the management and board of WSBT to determine that combining with a larger organization is the optimal strategy to continue serving its customers today and well into the future. WSBT customers, at the time the transaction is completed, will become members of Land of Lincoln Credit Union with full access to the credit union's vast array of products and services and LLCU's larger lending limit.

Why did WSBT choose LLCU?

Management and the board of WSBT were impressed with LLCU's commitment to exceptional service as well as its investment in people and community, which already includes strong outreach in the greater Springfield area. This partnership will provide a positive financial return to all members of LLCU following the transaction.

What is the difference between a Bank and a Credit Union?

We understand this might be your first experience using a credit union for financial services. The good news is, banks and credit unions offer the same products and services, so this transition should be fairly simple. The key difference between banks & credit unions is that credit unions are non-profit organizations owned by the members (YOU). This means any profit made is returned to members through higher dividends, competitive loan rates, & enhanced technology.

Another key difference is how the deposits of our members are insured. Credit Unions are federally insured by the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration), which is a federal government agency. The NCUA is the credit union equivalent to the FDIC for banks. At LLCU, we also provide additional deposit insurance through ESI (Excess Share Insurance). For a comparison side-by-side of NCUA Insurance and FDIC Insurance, please refer to the bottom of this page.

Who is Land of Lincoln Credit Union?

Land of Lincoln Credit Union (or LLCU) is an Illinois-chartered credit union, regulated by the Credit Union Section, Division of Financial Institutions, Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (“IDFPR”) and federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (the "NCUA"). LLCU operates from its main branch in Decatur, Illinois, and numerous other branches with offices located throughout central Illinois. The LLCU mission is “To provide our members education and tools to achieve financial success.” You can also learn more about LLCU by viewing our 2025 Community Impact Report found HERE.

Why is LLCU choosing to acquire Williamsville State Bank?

This proposed partnership is a cultural and geographic fit that will create enhancements for members of both, LLCU and WSBT. With this transaction, LLCU will now have three branches within the greater Springfield area.

Will I be able to use any LLCU branch or ATM?

Yes, you can now use any LLCU branch and/or ATM, which includes the three former WSBT branches. You can now also access more than 40,000 fee-free ATMs that are a part of the MoneyPass®. To view all LLCU locations and hours, click HERE.

Will my products and services change? Will the hours change?

After the acquisition, LLCU expects to continue to offer very similar products and services as are currently offered at Williamsville State Bank. Presently, WSBT offers checking accounts, savings accounts, CDs, money market accounts, and loans. These same deposit and loan products are presently offered at LLCU. WSBT currently offers Online and Mobile Banking, LLCU also offers very robust online and mobile banking platforms. One change you will surely like is that LLCU’s mobile banking platform offers you the capability to remotely deposit checks. Your transition to LLCU Online and Mobile Banking should be easy and seamless. More detailed information will follow as we near the accounts system conversion date.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ONLINE BANKING: Now that the Accounts System Conversion has taken place, WSBT Online Banking has been discontinued and you can now enroll in LLCU Online Banking. For instructions on how to enroll, click HERE.

How will my FDIC deposit insurance at WSBT transition to NCUA deposit insurance at LLCU?

After the closing date, your deposits will be federally insured by the NCUA and not by the FDIC. All your current deposits will continue to be federally insured up to $250,000 for each account category through the NCUA. Additionally, LLCU provides members with an additional $750,000 in deposit coverage through Excess Share Insurance (ESI). Therefore, when combining both NCUA and ESI, LLCU members' deposits are protected up to at least $1,000,000.

At no time during the transition from FDIC to NCUA will your deposits be uninsured. Enclosed you will find a chart comparing FDIC and NCUA insurance coverage. The insured status of deposits at WSBT under the provisions of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act will continue until deposits are transferred to LLCU upon completion of the acquisition on August 31st, 2026. At that point, deposits will be insured by the NCUA and not the FDIC.

We have included a chart comparing FDIC and NCUA insurance coverage at the bottom of this FAQ page. You can also visit the NCUA’s website at www.ncua.gov and the FDIC’s website at www.fdic.gov where more detailed information about share and deposit insurance can be found.

What will happen with the existing WSBT locations?

WSBT’s three branch locations will remain open and become full-service LLCU locations.

Will there be a name change?

Yes, Williamsville State Bank & Trust (WSBT) will become part of, and assume the name of, Land of Lincoln Credit Union (LLCU) effective August 31st, 2026.

What will happen to WSBT employees?

The WSBT employees you know and love will continue their dedicated service. LLCU is working hard to align the skills, abilities, and career goals of all current WSBT employees with LLCU’s commitment to serve you. Bringing together two successful organizations, we will create a vibrant work environment with incredible career growth and advancement potential.

What are the benefits I will receive as a LLCU member?

After the completion of the system conversion, the following list is just a sampling of the types of benefits that will be available to you:

Will my account number or account names change with the accounts system conversion to LLCU?

The conversion of accounts to LLCU's system may have required some changes to account names and/or account numbers if there are duplicates between institutions. We will work to minimize any changes that will be required to be made to accounts as we understand that this type of change may cause disruption. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible so that you experience no interruptions in accessing your accounts. Any and all changes will be communicated should they require any action from you.

Now with the conversion completed, you should begin using the LLCU Routing Number to set up any new ACH transactions, and to order new checks. The LLCU Routing Number can be found at the top of the www.llcu.org homepage. If your Account Number changed, LLCU staff will reach out.

Will I need to update my Automatic Payments and Direct Deposits (social security, payroll, etc.)?

Following the accounts system conversion, you may be asked to contact any entity that currently utilizes your account information for ACH payments or deposits to provide your updated LLCU routing number (271183015), as well as any change that may occur to your account number. We will provide you with more information as we near the account conversion date.

Will I need to update my BillPay information?

After Accounts System Conversion weekend, if you have BillPay set up through WSBT Online Banking, you will need to re-enter transactions and Payee Info within LLCU Online Banking once enrolled. For assistance, call 217-698-9728 or visit www.llcu.org. For directions on how to print BillPay Payee Info, view the CONVERSION INFO PACKET.

Will I still be able to use Phone Banking?

As of Friday, September 25th at 2:00p.m., WSBT Phone Banking will no longer be available. Beginning on Mon., Sept. 28th at 8:00a.m., WSBT members will be able to re-enroll using LLCU’s Lincoln Line TeleBanking by calling 1-800-500-9401 and entering the LAST FOUR DIGITS of your SSN for your PIN. You will be able to reset your PIN after you have this setup.

What is Land of Lincoln Credit Union’s routing number?

Land of Lincoln Credit Union’s routing number is 271183015. If you ever need to find it again quickly, it is listed at the top of our website at www.llcu.org.

Will I still be able to use my current checks?

Yes, you will continue to be able to use your current checks following the closing of the acquisition. You will be provided with new checks with the Land of Lincoln Credit Union name, routing number, and your account number prior to or following account conversion. More details will be included in future correspondence.

Will I still be able to use my debit card or will I receive a new debit card?

Now that the Accounts System Conversion has taken place, you should begin using your new LLCU Contactless Debit Card. You should have received it in the mail around Sept. 21st. If you did not receive it, please visit your nearest LLCU branch to receive an instant issue debit card. If you received yours and are ready to activate, please follow these steps:

  1. Call the phone number adhered to your new card.
  2. PRESS 2 to set your new PIN. NOTE: Your previous PIN will not work (do not Press 1).
  3. Once you Press 2 to set a new PIN – you will be able to re-use your previous PIN number if you choose.

Your new LLCU Debit Card will be a contactless credit card. This means you will be able to make a payment simply by tapping or hovering the card near a payment terminal instead of swiping or inserting the card. The benefit of a contactless card is a faster transaction, no need for signing or entering a PIN, and increased security. Each tap creates a unique, one-time security code that keeps your account number safe from hackers. Your new card will look like this:
